Problem reformatting SC115 for use with CR850

RAFASUR Apr 3, 2022 09:59 PM

I am having trouble trying to recover / format an SC115 using the Windows Format / FAT32. The unit had been used in 2014 and files had errors in their names. I was able to read these old files and later according to the SC115 manual ( section 14.2, 2019 edition) I tried to format the SC115 in FAT32 from Windows 10. I always got the message "Windows could not complete the operation" (both on quick and long format). I also tried from the CR850 (using OS version 27)
itself using File->Format->USB but with no success. If anyone knows a solution for this I will be very thankful.

You could try updating the CR850 OS to the latest 32.05 before you try the "File Control" > USB device > "Format" option.

If that does not work, you could try sending the latest OS to the SC115, in case this has become corrupt. This can be downloaded from here :-

SC115 OS: Get the latest download (campbellsci.co.uk)

You will also need the current Device Configuration Utility software version, to make sure this supports the uploading of the OS to the SC115.

Thanks for your feedback. I did the update the DCU and performed OS update from OS27 to 32.05, with no problems. I updated the SC115 OS also to version 05 from 2021, also updating the Windows USB drivers as required. The device appears to take the update correctly. I inserted it in the CR850, press "File Control" > USB device > "Format" .. the options are CPU and USB. Press on USB and warns all files will be lost.. proceed. It (Very) briefly shows "Formatting.." and then goes back. Trying to copy a file form CPU to USB says "copy failed". Trying to Format from Windows, using FAT32, 4096 sectors, quick format shows (as before) "Windows could not complete the format" (in spanish, in my version). I suspect there might be an internal problem with the SC115? Or do you know of something that might be missing? Thanks in advance - Best wishes

Sounds like there maybe an issue with it. Returning for repair is one option or replacing with a new one.
