CR6 ethernet communication

ipantev Feb 1, 2022 11:52 AM

Dear all,

I have a CR6 logger set up to read data collected from a Roctest SOFO Lite logger (for long fiber optic strain gauges) via ethernet. They communicate via SCPI instructions over a TCP/IP interface. I need to setup remote data collection (to an FTP server already setup) from the CR6 logger and thus need to use the ethernet port, currently occupied by the SOFO logger.

As far as I understand the RS-232/CPI port on the CR6 cannot be used for TCP/IP communication, so my only option is to use an external network switch, such that the CR6 can connect to the internet (TCP/IP) as well as interface with the SOFO logger. Am i correct in this thinking?

Thanks!

I would say yes.  A switch would be necessary.  The CPI port is not capable of Ethernet.  However, if a switch was an issue, you could add an NL201.
