Com111 with dyndns

SebastienLisah Apr 20, 2018 03:46 PM

Hi,

I have a com111 with CR1000X.

My sim card is configure in Public IP and Dynamic IP.

I want to configure them with my account at dyndns.com (dyndns is a provider for fix IP).

I have some problem for configure my com111 and my CR1000X.

I have test with Mobile Data Assistant but it is impossible to fill in my identifiers dyndns.

I stil tried Mobile Data Assistant with a simple configuration (logger ip stack, listening incomming) and after I check in device configuration the box PPP and I see that the IP changes all the time and very quickly (arround every 10 seondes).

And I test a simple program to send email every minutes and a lot of mail was lost because the CR1000X reconnect with the modem every time.

I tried my sim card with another application that is not Campbell and the IP address does not change often (at each power up and once a day), so is not a problem with my sim card.

Thanks for your help

You have two issues it seems.

1) first the Dyndns:  the modem itself does support Dyndns but only when using the modem's own IP stack which would prevent the logger from sending emails which can only be sent if it runs its own IP stack.      If you search this forum you will see that some have written logger code to support dyndns in CRBasic.   You could include that in your own code, but it is not officially supported by Campbell Scientific or DynDns.

2) the other issue is the logger does not seem to be holding the connection to the network and continually restarting the connection, hence the changing IP address.  This would seem to indicate an incompatiblity between the logger and the network you are using rather than the modem itself.   To check this can you try using the modems IP stack to see if it stays online for longer (look in the diagnostics screen of the MDA program to check this).   Please report what happens and and the network you are using and we will investigate further.

Hi,

thanks for your answers.

I take note for Dyndns.

For the second point, I configure Com111 and CR1000X with MDA in listening (look the at the attachement : "MDA Save config.mdacfg" and "CR1000X Series-2174-20180426.xml"  or "Printing DevConfig Printout.pdf").

You can see diagnostics MDA on "Diagnostique MDA.PNG" in the attachement.

I join a video ("Video Device config.mp4" in the attachement) of device configuration and you can see the IP adress change 4 times in 2 minutes.

The configuration of the sim card :

      - French operator Bouygue Telecom

      - Card M2M

      - IP Public

      - IP dynamic

      - No pin

Hi,

Yesterday I tried the sim card with RV50 and CR1000 and there is no problem of frequent change of the IP address.

The address changes once a day on average (which is the average frequency of the operator).

Can you please contact me by email as we need to collect some logs to see why the connection is dropping so often.  My email is andrew d0t sandford at campbellsci.co.uk.

After email exchange with Campbell, I tried a beta version that solves the problem.

The new version will be available soon.
Thanks for the help Campbell
