Geo-technical Application Specialist

We are 22 staff strong, and growing, and are now recruiting for a dynamic Application Specialist focused on our geo-technical market. This role is in line with our 5 year plan and is based at our Australian & SE Asia head office in Townsville, Australia’s largest tropical city and our base for over 26 years. 

Our friendly, passionate and dedicated team of Application Specialists play a vital role in providing pre and post sales technical support and advice on a wide range of applications of our products in markets including meteorology, micrometeorology (flux), hydrology, geo-technical, mining, industrial and agricultural.

This Application Specialist role is focused on one of our key markets, geo-technical and structural monitoring. Ideal applicants will be comfortable building client relationships with engineers and geo-technical scientists, specifying demanding measurement systems and providing detailed technical advice, guidance and support to clients in this space. 

For the right candidate there is also promotional opportunity to move in time to become CSA's Market Lead - Geo-technical. 

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide hardware and software support for new and existing customers.
  • Provide pre and post sales technical support to customers including but not limited to complex system design and troubleshooting issues.
  • Provide specialist support on data logger communications, including serial communications, PPP connections, internet protocols and satellite/radio/GPRS/other communications technologies.
  • Write complex data logger programs as part of sold consultancy time.
  • Provide accurate and timely customer quotes to facilitate the completion of orders.
  • Document and build on library files for internal training on programming and technical support practices.
  • Represent the Company in a friendly, helpful and professional way at all times.
  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of the company’s products, services and internal processes.
  • Maintain and develop strong long-term relationships with new and existing customers so that we continue to sell existing and new services to them.
  • Infrequent travel may be required as part of this role, within Australia/SE Asia and/or to parent company based in Logan, Utah.
  • When required, perform any other reasonable duties consistent with the role of Application Specialist. 

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong alignment to our values. Must like working with people.
  • Passion for technology.
  • Well organised with demonstrated ability to prioritise work, and manage competing tasks, under own initiative within guidelines/frameworks. 
  • Experience in working with diverse communication technologies. Exposure to environmental instrumentation will be viewed favourably. 
  • Commercial awareness and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Campbell Scientific products and/or solutions.
  • Field experience in the geo-technical market.
  • Experience in working with Modbus and similar industry protocols.
  • Experience in software programming, CR Basic well regarded.
