VisualWeather uses a communications server to interact with the weather station. This server is loaded when the program is loaded. Other Campbell Scientific software uses the same communications server.
This message most likely means that there is another Campbell Scientific program running (such as PC200W, PC400, or LoggerNet). It is also possible that another application, such as Rain Bird or Toro irrigation software, is running and using the same communications server.
To prevent this conflict, close down the other program or application completely before starting VisualWeather. It may be necessary to check the system tray for components that continue to run when the main program is closed.
If both applications need to be running at the same time, try assigning the VisualWeather communications server a new port. By default, the VisualWeather communications server uses port 6789. To change the port, use the command line switch
"C:\Program Files\Campbellsci\VisualWeather\VisualWeather.exe" ipport=XXXX
where “XXXX” is the new port number for the communications server.
