Duff is an important component of forest fire fuel. An accurate
knowledge of moisture content in duff material is critical to those
conducting scheduled burns as well as those attempting to battle
out-of-control fires.
The CS205 and CS505 are designed to make automatic continuous measurements of fuel moisture and fuel temperature. When connected to a data logger with telecommunications capability, the user can automatically monitor changing fuel conditions without having to visit the measurement site.
The CS205 Fuel Temperature Sensor is typically measured alongside the CS505 Fuel Moisture Sensor. The fuel moisture sensor measures the percent water content of a 10-hour fuel moisture dowel. The sensors are typically mounted side-by-side on the 10974 Fuel Moisture/Temperature Stake.
